The Full Story

About

My name is Nuala Flynn - I am a yoga teacher currently residing in North Yorkshire. I recently moved back to rural England after spending a few years in The Big City (NYC) . I am so thrilled to share this space with you - please read on to hear more from my journey on and off the mat!

Yoga, to me...

nualaflows was born out of a feeling of disconnect - from my life, my work, my body. Consistent and dedicated yoga practice was and still is something that reconnected me to these things, gave me purpose, and showed me a different way to navigate the challenges of modern life.

Yoga first entered my life in small, fleeting moments — I dipped my toe in and out for years, never fully committing. I was drawn to the physical practice, and how each time I landed on the mat I felt a sense of deep peace and joy. These feelings were always momentary — a brief and elusive sensation which rarely lasted beyond the walk home from a class. Something was missing, and perhaps that's why I never fully committed.

And then, more recently, something shifted. The demanding rhythm and disconnection of corporate work life left me feeling unanchored, disconnected and quite frankly lost. I finally turned to my practice with more intention, and through that deepening connection, I made the decision to train as a teacher.

Vision

I ventured to Arafo, Tenerife to join La Casa Shambala's 200HR Hatha & Vinyasa TTC — a space that is more than just a school, but a living, breathing community. Their philosophy deeply shaped my approach to teaching: yoga as union, not just of body and breath, but of people, of energies, of self and world. The idea that we can create something different, not by changing the outside, but by reconnecting with what’s within. I found a deep respect and admiration for this beautiful and ancient practice, and the link I was grasping for years ago fell into place.

Yoga is not just asana (physical postures), but a holistic way of life. It's about journey. This resonated with me so much and I thought about ways in which I could bring this practice back to my life in North Yorkshire....

Mission

Untitled design (1).png

My teaching is informed by this mission: creating spaces where people can be present, move with freedom, and meet themselves exactly as they are. I believe yoga is for everybody and every body — not just the ‘flexible’ ones, not just the ones who fit the 'stereotype', and certainly not just women of a certain age, race or physicality.  One great interest for me is challenging the misconception that yoga is only for women, breaking down the barriers that keep men from embracing the practice. The modern perception of yoga often overlooks its origins, which was very heavily male. My aim is to help shift this narrative and create spaces where everyone — regardless of gender — feels welcome to experience the depth and benefits of the practice. To hear more about this in detail, check out my Men’s Yoga section.

Outside of yoga, I find my flow in nature — the sound of the ocean, the rhythm of a coastal walk, the stillness of being under the trees. Movement is everywhere. And when I’m not teaching or out in nature, you’ll probably find me at home, curled up with a cup of tea, watching the Formula 1 with my two cats!

Flowing in love and kindness, always....
